Thermopylae Tour

A private 7-hour trip from Athens to Thermopylae, the pass where Leonidas and the 300 Spartans held off the Persian army. A professional driver collects you from your Athens hotel, apartment, port or airport and takes you north to the Hot Gates, with a full hour at the pass to take in the narrow coastal ground and the history attached to it.

The stop most guests remember is the Thermopylae hot springs, another full hour beside naturally heated mineral water. Bring a towel and swimwear: you can bathe where the thermal water falls over the rocks into the pools below, and the springs run year-round, so this works in any season. From there your driver continues to the Holy Monastery of Panagia Damastas, a hillside viewpoint over the pass and the plain, then on to the Thermopylae Museum.

The museum holds exhibits and artifacts from the battle and the wider history of the site. Entrance is €3 per person, not included in the tour price. The final stops are the Leonidas Monument and the battlefield itself, both built in as photo stops. Your driver provides commentary on the drive north and back, and pickup, drop-off and all taxes and handling charges are included in the €195 per person price.

The vehicle is private to your group, so the day moves at your pace with no waiting on other travellers between the pass, the springs, the monastery, the museum and the monument.
