Mycenae & Nafplio Tour

A private 6-hour tour pairing two of the Peloponnese’s best stops with a look at the Corinth Canal on the way south. First is Mycenae, the Bronze Age citadel tied to Agamemnon and the world of Homer. You pass through the Lion Gate, one of the most recognisable monuments of the ancient Greek world, and walk among the royal tombs and cyclopean walls that guarded the seat of a Mycenaean king. It is a compact site but a striking one: hilltop ramparts, beehive tombs, and a view over the plain that makes the citadel’s defensive position obvious immediately.

From Mycenae the route continues to Nafplio, a seaside town with a completely different character. Nafplio was the first capital of modern Greece and still feels like it, with a compact Venetian old town of narrow lanes and neoclassical façades, a harbour framed by fortifications, and the Palamidi fortress on the hill above. Mycenae is deep antiquity; Nafplio is a much more recent chapter. The contrast between them is what makes the day work.

The Corinth Canal viewpoint at the start is a short warm-up stop before the drive south proper.
